⚠️ Important — Read Before Changing Any Codes

  • Always keep the door open while programming or changing codes. Test the new code at least 3 times with the door open before closing it. Lockout service due to a bad code change is avoidable and expensive.
  • If your lock is acting up randomly — beeping for no reason, not responding consistently, or rejecting known-good codes — have it serviced or replaced now. A lock that fails completely will cost far more to deal with in an emergency than a planned repair or replacement. Don't wait until you're locked out.

About Alarm Lock Trilogy

The Alarm Lock Trilogy series by Napco Security Technologies is a commercial-grade electronic keypad lock system used on offices, warehouses, schools, and institutions. Trilogy locks provide three access levels — Master, Manager, and Basic User — with up to 100 user codes organized in a 10-bank grid system.

Understanding the Code Grid

Trilogy locks organize codes in a grid of 10 Banks (columns 0–9) and 10 rows (0–9). Each grid position is a 2-digit location from 00 to 99. Manager Codes are at positions ending in 0 (00, 10, 20, 30…90). Basic User Codes fill the remaining positions (01–09, 11–19, etc.).

Important: Do not pause more than 5 seconds between any key presses during programming — otherwise you must start over.

Change the Master Code

First-Time Setup: Change Factory Master Code

The factory Master Code must be changed before any other programming is accepted.

  1. Press the factory Master Code: 1 2 3 4 5. A beep sounds and the lock opens.
  2. Within 5 seconds, press A 1 A.
  3. Within 5 seconds, enter your new Master Code (3–6 digits).
  4. Press A.
  5. Re-enter the new Master Code to validate.
  6. A 6-beep acknowledgment with red LED confirms success.
  7. Wait 5 seconds for the lock to re-lock.
  8. Test the new Master Code — enter it and the lock should beep and unlock.

⚠️ The number of digits in your Master Code sets the required length for ALL subsequent Manager and User Codes. This cannot be changed later without a full factory reset — choose carefully. A 6-digit code is recommended.

Add a Manager Code

Steps to Add a Manager Code

Manager Code locations are: 00, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90. Only the Master Code can add or change a Manager Code.

  1. Enter your Master Code. Lock opens.
  2. Within 5 seconds, press A.
  3. Enter the 2-digit Manager location (e.g., 00, 10, 20…90), then press A.
  4. Enter the new Manager Code (same number of digits as Master Code).
  5. A 6-beep acknowledgment with red LED confirms success.
  6. Wait 5 seconds for the lock to re-lock.
[MC] A [location 00/10/20…] A [new Manager Code] 6 beeps ✓
Example: To add Manager Code 33333 in location 00 — enter your Master Code, then: A 00 A 33333

Add a Basic User Code

Steps to Add a User Code

User locations are 01–09, 11–19, 21–29, etc. (any 2-digit location not ending in 0). You can use either the Master Code or the Manager Code for that bank.

  1. Enter your Master Code or the relevant Manager Code.
  2. Within 5 seconds, press A.
  3. Enter the 2-digit User location, then press A.
  4. Enter the new User Code (same number of digits as Master Code).
  5. A 6-beep acknowledgment with red LED confirms success.
  6. Wait 5 seconds for the lock to re-lock.
[MC or Manager] A [location] A [new User Code] 6 beeps ✓
Example: To add User Code 22222 in location 01 — enter your Master Code, then: A 01 A 22222

Delete a Code

Steps to Delete a Manager or User Code

The Master Code itself cannot be deleted. Manager Codes can only be deleted with the Master Code.

  1. Enter your Master Code (or Manager Code for users in that bank).
  2. Press A.
  3. Enter the 2-digit location of the code to delete.
  4. Press A then press *.
  5. A 6-beep acknowledgment with red LED confirms deletion.
[MC or Manager] A [location] A * 6 beeps ✓
Example: To delete the code in location 47 — enter your Master Code, then: A 47 A *
💡 Tip: You can hold the * key down to exit programming mode immediately and re-lock the door faster instead of waiting for the Pass Time to expire.

Add a Service Code (One-Time Entry)

Service Codes are single-use — automatically deleted after one entry

  1. Enter your Master Code or a Manager Code.
  2. Press A 301 A for Service Code 1, A 302 A for #2, or A 303 A for #3.
  3. Enter the new Service Code (same digit length as Master Code).
  4. A 6-beep acknowledgment confirms success.
[MC] A301A [Service Code] 6 beeps ✓
⚠️ Service Codes are lost if batteries are removed. To delete all Service Codes at once: [MC] A 300 A

Factory Reset (Erase All Programming)

⚠️ Full Factory Reset — Erases All Codes and Settings

This restores the factory Master Code (1-2-3-4-5) and clears all user codes and settings. Note: this does not clear keyfob pairings.

  1. Remove the battery pack.
  2. With batteries disconnected, hold down any numeric key for 10 seconds, then release.
  3. Reconnect the batteries and — within 3 seconds — press and hold the A key.
  4. After hearing 6 beeps, release the A key.
  5. Wait 5 seconds. The lock is now reset to factory defaults.
⚠️ All Manager codes, User codes, Service Codes, and settings are permanently erased. The Master Code reverts to 1-2-3-4-5.
If you do not hear the 6 beeps, start over at step 1. Failure to follow this exact sequence can result in erratic lock behavior.

Troubleshooting

  • Lock plays musical scale when you enter 2 digits + A: This is the Lock Identifier feature — normal behavior confirming you have a Trilogy T2 model.
  • 5-beep error tone (with extended first beep): The code is valid but has been disabled. Re-enable using the Master Code.
  • 5-beep error tone (regular): Invalid code entered.
  • Keypad locked out for ~30 seconds: Three consecutive wrong codes triggers anti-tamper lockout. Wait for 2 beeps with a red LED flash, then the lock re-activates.
  • Low battery warning: Red LED flashes with a high/low sounder on keypress. Replace all 5 AA batteries immediately.
  • Forgot Master Code: A factory reset (above) will restore the default 1-2-3-4-5 Master Code.
  • Code accepted but door stays locked: Check that Passage Mode is not disabled. Default Pass Time is 5 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the default Master Code on an Alarm Lock Trilogy?

The factory default Master Code on all Alarm Lock Trilogy T2 locks (DL2700, DL2800, DL3000, etc.) is 1-2-3-4-5. You must change this immediately after installation — no other programming is accepted until you do.

How many user codes can the Trilogy DL2700 hold?

The Trilogy DL2700 supports up to 104 total codes: 1 Master Code, 10 Manager Codes (at locations 00, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90), 90 Basic User Codes, and 3 one-time Service Codes. All codes must be the same length as the Master Code (3–6 digits).

What is a Service Code on an Alarm Lock Trilogy?

A Service Code is a one-time-use access code. Once entered at the keypad, the code automatically deletes itself and cannot be used again. This is ideal for giving temporary access to a repair technician without needing to manage or delete the code afterward. Service Codes are also lost if the batteries are removed.

Can I program the Trilogy from a computer?

Yes. Alarm Lock offers free DL-Windows software that lets you program the lock via a PC using the optional AL-DTM Data Transfer Module or AL-PCI cable. This is useful for managing large numbers of users or setting up scheduled access times.

Will changing batteries erase my codes?

No. The DL2700 uses non-volatile memory, so all user codes and keyfob pairings are retained even if power is lost completely. However, do not press any keys while the batteries are disconnected unless you intend to do a factory reset. Service Codes are the exception: they are lost when power is removed.
