You’re not a gun collector. You don’t need a 6-foot-tall floor safe. What you do have is a small business that handles cash, a pile of important documents (deed, passports, business licenses, birth certificates), maybe some jewelry, and a family with a healthy skepticism of fire risk. You want real protection against both theft and fire — without spending $5,000 on a commercial vault.
That’s the Hayman DynaVault — Hayman’s mid-size burglary + fire safe, built for homes and small offices that need real dual-threat protection.
Who the Hayman DynaVault is right for
- Small business owners with daily cash, checks, and petty cash envelopes
- Homeowners with irreplaceable documents — trusts, wills, property deeds, passports, Social Security cards, immigration paperwork
- Jewelry owners with pieces worth protecting but not warranting a TL30 certified vault
- Collectors of specialty items — coins, watches, small heirlooms
- People who don’t want a gun safe because they don’t own firearms but still need real protection
- Florida homeowners worried about lightning-caused fires — the 75-minute rating is Brevard-appropriate
The dual-threat design
Most “fire safes” at big-box stores are thin-walled sheet metal with gypsum filler — they might survive 20 minutes of fire but will defeat a $15 pry bar in seconds. Commercial burglary safes, on the other hand, often skip fire rating entirely because they’re designed for cash-drawer protection where fire isn’t the threat.
The DynaVault does both — and does both well:
- UL-listed burglary protection — real steel construction with active boltwork, not a decorative shell
- 75 minutes of fire protection — verified fire board construction tested to 1200°F
- Mechanical dial lock standard (electronic keypad optional) — dial locks never fail from dead batteries and last decades without service
- 3-way active boltwork with multiple locking bolts
- Hardplate and relocker protecting the lock mechanism
- Fabric-covered steel shelves — won’t scratch delicate items or jewelry
- Lifetime burglary guarantee
The DynaVault models
DV 1519 C — $1,720 · 19″ tall × 15″ wide × 17″ deep · 183 lbs
The smallest DynaVault. Perfect under a desk, inside a closet, or bolted into a cabinet. Holds a lockbox worth of documents, a jewelry tray, and petty cash.
DV 2219 C — $1,980 · 22″ tall × 19″ wide × 18″ deep · 224 lbs
The sweet-spot size. Standard document storage plus room for jewelry boxes, coin rolls, a small gun or two if needed. Most-common choice for small home offices.
DV 3019 C — $2,190 · 33″ tall × 22″ wide × 20″ deep · 279 lbs
The largest DynaVault. Small-business grade — holds a day’s cash receipts, filing folders, jewelry inventory. Still residential-friendly in size.
All three come with mechanical dial as standard and electronic keypad as an available upgrade. We recommend electronic for home use (faster, multi-user), mechanical for business use where the safe gets opened rarely and batteries are a hassle.
When the DynaVault is NOT the right choice
- You need more than 75 minutes of fire. If you’re in a rural area with slow fire response, or you’re protecting highly flammable items (paper cash, film, sensitive documents), step up to the MagnaVault EX with 105-minute fire.
- You need a UL TL15 or TL30 certification for insurance. The DynaVault is UL listed but not TL-rated. For high-value jewelry, cash, or business inventory requiring rated burglary coverage, step up to the MagnaVault TL30.
- You’re storing firearms as primary use. A gun safe is optimized for gun racks, rifle length, and ammo. Use a BlackHills or similar for firearms.
- Fire is your only concern, not burglary. If you genuinely only need fire protection and are willing to trade burglary resistance for a cheaper safe, the Hayman FlameVault is a much more affordable fire-only option.
- You need a drop safe or depository. For end-of-shift cash drops where employees need to deposit but not retrieve, the CashVault is purpose-built.
Florida-specific considerations
75-minute fire in Florida context. Brevard County fire departments average 6–10 minute response times in populated areas, but rural zones (Mims, Christmas, West Melbourne edges) can see 15–20 minute response. A 75-minute rating gives you 50+ minutes of margin past full response. More than adequate for most Brevard locations.
Paperwork risk during hurricanes. A DynaVault in a flood-prone area should be bolted to the slab AND elevated if possible. Water damage is a separate risk from fire — we spec customers in AE/VE zones toward elevated installations or to upgrade to the MagnaVault EX which has higher water resistance in its door seal.
Cash-handling small businesses. Brevard has a lot of tourism-driven small businesses — beach rentals, dive shops, bait & tackle, restaurants on A1A. If you’re handling cash daily and don’t want a full commercial safe, a DynaVault in the back office with dial lock is an honest workhorse. Bolt it down, keep the dial combination tight.
