Falcon Panic Hardware & Exit Devices
Allegion's mid-grade commercial panic hardware. Grade 1 construction priced for moderate-duty applications. Authorized service across Brevard County.
About Falcon (Allegion)
Falcon is Allegion's mid-grade commercial panic hardware line — sharing a parent company and manufacturing heritage with Von Duprin but priced for applications where Grade 1 Von Duprin is overkill. Falcon devices are genuinely Grade 1 certified — the cost difference comes from slightly lighter-duty internal specifications, not lower quality.
The Falcon 19 Series is extremely common on moderate-traffic Brevard County commercial buildings: professional offices, smaller retail stores, religious buildings, light institutional use. It's the sensible-budget choice when a building genuinely doesn't need Von Duprin 99-level durability.
Because Falcon shares Allegion's parts supply chain with Von Duprin, most Falcon repair parts are readily available and reasonably priced. We stock common 19 Series components on the truck for same-visit repairs across Melbourne, Palm Bay, and all of Brevard County.

Available Trims & Lever Options
The trim is the outside hardware attached to the exit device — the lever, pull, thumbpiece, or knob that determines how the door opens from the outside when unlocked. Inside remains the panic bar (for code-compliant free egress). Below are the standard trim options available for Falcon exit devices:
| Trim Code | Type | Function | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 510L | Lever trim — night latch | Night latch (classroom) | Outside lever, key controls outside operation. Most common Falcon trim. |
| 512L | Lever trim — entry | Outside always unlocked | Lever is always active — pulling the lever retracts the latch, no key required. |
| 513L | Lever trim — office | Office function | Outside lever is always locked; key retracts latch only for entry. |
| 718L | Lever trim — storeroom | Storeroom function | Outside lever is always locked; key retracts latch. No thumbturn override. |
| 719L | Lever + night latch | Night latch + storeroom | Combination night latch and storeroom — common on perimeter doors. |
| 06 | Thumbpiece trim | Key retracts latch | Traditional commercial thumbpiece with key cylinder. |
| 15 | Pull with cylinder | Key retracts latch | Fixed pull + key cylinder for exterior entry. |
| 17 | Pull, no cylinder | Exit only from outside | Dummy pull — no outside entry, exit only. |
| EO | Exit only | No outside trim | No exterior hardware. |
| DT | Dummy trim | Aesthetic only | Matching dummy for inactive pair door. |
Available Finishes
Finishes are specified using ANSI/BHMA finish codes. The most common finishes for commercial door hardware in Florida are satin chrome (626), satin stainless (630), and oil-rubbed bronze (613). Most trims can be ordered in any of these finishes:
Common Falcon Repairs
- Push pad slow to return — worn internal return spring, serviceable on-site.
- Latch not engaging — strike alignment adjustment or latch bolt replacement.
- Dogging mechanism stuck in retracted position — internal cam wear, replace cam or hex-dog module.
- Rim strike damage from high-traffic impact — strike replacement with optional reinforcement plate.
- Trim lever loose — lever mount set-screw retighten or full trim replacement.
- Fire-rated device failing inspection — UL label verification, chassis and trim pairing check.
- Older F-19 needing complete rebuild — often more economical to upgrade to current F-25 or Von Duprin 98.
Electrification & Access Control Integration
Adding electric latch retraction (EL) or other electrification options turns mechanical Falcon devices into access-control-capable entrances. Exit remains code-compliant free egress from the inside, but outside entry becomes scheduled, credentialed, or automated. See our full electrification overview on the main panic hardware page.
- 19-EL / 25-EL — Electric latch retraction variants. Wire into access control identically to Von Duprin 98EL — shared Allegion engineering.
- Shared Allegion power supplies — Falcon EL devices use the same PS900 series power supplies as Von Duprin EL. Fewer integration surprises.
- Request-to-Exit (REX) switch — Standard option on all Falcon EL configurations.
- Latch monitoring (LX) — Optional secure-confirmation switch for high-security applications.
- Fire alarm release wiring — Same architecture as Von Duprin — we wire to FACP for automatic unlock on alarm activation.
Falcon FAQ
Should I choose Falcon or Von Duprin for my building?
Honest answer: Falcon 19 Series is sufficient for 80% of commercial Florida buildings — professional offices, smaller retail, moderate-traffic use. Von Duprin 99 is warranted for high-traffic environments (schools, hospitals, transit stations, heavy retail) where the extra durability pays back over time. If your annual door cycles are under ~200,000, Falcon 19 is the smarter economic choice. Above that, consider Von Duprin.
Is Falcon a lower-quality brand than Von Duprin?
Not in materials or construction — both are genuinely Grade 1 ANSI/BHMA certified. The difference is specified duty cycle: Falcon 19 rates for moderate cycles, Von Duprin 99 rates for heavy-duty. In practice, a properly installed Falcon 19 on a moderate-traffic door will outlast most buildings. The "quality" gap is really an over-engineering gap for heavy-traffic applications.
Can I swap my Von Duprin 98 for a Falcon 19?
Often yes — the footprint is similar and Allegion designed them with cross-compatibility in mind. Not always 1:1 — mounting holes and trim cutouts may require minor door prep adjustment. If you're doing it to save money on a replacement, we can evaluate on-site and confirm before ordering.
Do you service older Falcon 19 devices?
Yes. Falcon 19 has been in production since the 1980s with consistent engineering. Parts for 15–20+ year old devices are still generally available through Allegion. For devices that need significant rebuild, we sometimes recommend upgrading to current-generation F-25 or swapping to Von Duprin 98 depending on the math.
What's the warranty on Falcon exit hardware?
Falcon carries a standard Allegion 10-year mechanical warranty on 19 and 25 series exit devices. Electronic components (EL motors, control boards, power supplies) typically carry a 2–3 year warranty. Finishes vary by code — clear-coat finishes typically 2 years, painted finishes 1 year. Proper installation is required for warranty coverage.

Falcon Door Closers — SC60A / SC70A / SC80A / SC90A
Falcon isn't just an exit device brand — Allegion also markets the Falcon SC Series commercial door closers as the value-tier companion to LCN. All three main Falcon closer series (SC60A, SC70A, SC80A) are ANSI/BHMA A156.4 Grade 1 certified with 10-year Allegion warranty — full Grade 1 specification at a price below LCN 4040XP for applications where LCN's premium isn't justified. For Brevard County commercial buildings running Falcon exit devices and wanting the matching closer brand, the Falcon SC Series keeps the hardware package under one manufacturer.
Worth knowing: Falcon's closer heritage includes the former Dor-O-Matic SC71 product line — many current SC70A closers trace back to Dor-O-Matic engineering from before the Allegion acquisition. The SC70A hole pattern matches Norton 7500, Yale 4400, and LCN 4050 for cross-brand retrofit; the SC80A hole pattern matches Norton 8000 for upgrade retrofits.

Is Falcon SC70A the same as Dor-O-Matic SC71?
Essentially yes — the Falcon SC70A evolved from the legacy Dor-O-Matic SC71 after Allegion acquired Dor-O-Matic. Same engineering heritage, updated materials. The SC70A hole pattern matches the original SC71, so direct retrofit works without re-drilling. If your building has older "Dor-O-Matic SC71" closers, the current replacement is Falcon SC70A.
How does Falcon SC70A compare to LCN 4040XP?
Both are Allegion, both Grade 1. LCN 4040XP is the premium heavy-duty flagship with 30-year warranty and Green Dial spring adjustment. Falcon SC70A is value-tier with 10-year warranty and simpler adjustment — but still Grade 1 specification. Price difference is meaningful on large installations. For budget-conscious Grade 1 spec on light-to-medium commercial (retail, apartments, schools, small offices), SC70A is the right call. For premium commercial, institutional heavy-traffic, or government/courthouse, step up to LCN 4040XP.
Can Falcon closers retrofit Norton or Yale installations?
Yes, in specific configurations. SC70A matches Norton 7500 / Yale 4400 / LCN 4050 hole spacing — drop-in retrofit with no re-drilling. SC80A matches Norton 8000 — drop-in retrofit for Norton 8000 installations. SC60A uses the most common industry hole pattern so it retrofits many older legacy closers as well. For buildings looking to standardize on Allegion while keeping existing door hardware, Falcon's retrofit compatibility is a real service and cost advantage.
