How does M9900 compare to Von Duprin 99?
Both are Grade 1. The Von Duprin 99 is the industry benchmark with the mature parts supply chain and broadest contractor familiarity. The M9900 is American-made, arguably heavier-built in certain components (the chassis is noticeably heavier-gauge), and priced below Von Duprin. For most commercial Florida buildings, M9900 is genuinely equivalent hardware at better economics. For buildings where the spec says "Von Duprin 99 or equal," M9900 qualifies as "equal" for inspection purposes.
Is Marks USA easier or harder to get parts for than Allegion brands?
Different, not harder. Allegion (Von Duprin, Falcon, Dor-O-Matic) has a mature distributor network with same-day/next-day parts for common items. Marks USA ships direct from New York with typical 2–5 day lead times. For emergency repairs, Allegion has the edge on speed. For planned maintenance or new installs, M9900 lead times are fine. Can I get M9900 in the same finish as the rest of my building hardware?
