Sargent 10X & 11 Line Grade 1 (Heavy-Duty)

Sargent 10X & 11 Line Commercial Locks

ASSA ABLOY SARGENT's Grade 1 cylindrical lock lineup — the 10X Line exceeds BHMA Grade 1 by up to 20× with EcoFlex® 92% energy-saving electromechanical, and the 11 Line uses T-Zone construction with a single lockbody serving all functions. The original 10 Line was discontinued in 2024 and replaced by the 10X as the current spec.

Parent company: ASSA ABLOY (SARGENT Manufacturing)

About Sargent 10X & 11 Line

The Sargent 10X Line and 11 Line are ASSA ABLOY SARGENT's current Grade 1 cylindrical lock lineup, certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 and Florida Building Code FL2998. The original 10 Line — a 40-year industry benchmark — was discontinued in 2024 and replaced by the 10X. For buildings with legacy 10 Line hardware, the 10X is a direct retrofit with identical door prep and dimensional compatibility. All new Sargent commercial cylindrical specifications use the 10X or 11 Line.

The 10X Line is engineered for high-traffic, high-abuse environments and exceeds Grade 1 requirements by up to 20 times. The standout feature is EcoFlex® technology on electromechanical variants — delivering 92% energy savings versus conventional solenoid electrified locks. For access-controlled doors running on 24/7 power, EcoFlex significantly reduces power supply sizing requirements and extends UPS runtime during outages. The 10X Line now also includes status indicators — visual Vacant/Occupied displays on privacy and restroom variants, a feature increasingly required on sensitive spaces.

The 11 Line uses T-Zone construction — a unique manufacturing approach where a single lockbody chassis serves all functions (passage, privacy, entrance, classroom, storeroom, etc.) with function differences driven by internal linkages rather than separate chassis. This simplifies facility management: you stock fewer SKUs, spare lockbodies are universal across functions, and field function changes are faster. For university campuses and hospital systems managing thousands of openings, the 11 Line's single-lockbody approach is operationally significant. Key-En-Lock is an authorized Sargent dealer and services both the 10X Line and 11 Line across Brevard County with truck-stocked parts.

Common Sargent 10X & 11 Line Repairs We Service

After 25+ years of commercial locksmith work in Brevard County, these are the failure modes we see most often on Sargent 10X & 11 Line cylindrical locks. All are truck-serviceable — we don't need to remove the door or send hardware to a shop.

  • Lever spring failure / lever sag — internal return spring wear. On-site spring kit replacement without door removal.
  • Cylinder binding / key won't turn — cam alignment or wafer wear. Cam re-position or full cylinder swap.
  • Latchbolt won't retract on lever press — drive cam or hub wear. Lockbody rebuild with Sargent OEM kit.
  • 10XG38 classroom intruder latch bent — forced-entry attempt. Replace auxiliary deadlocking assembly.
  • Electrified 10XG05-EL/EU not releasing — EcoFlex board failure, voltage drop, or access control relay issue.
  • Status indicator stuck / not switching — indicator mechanism debris or wear. Clean or replace.
  • 10 Line to 10X retrofit — direct swap with no door-prep changes. Fix-in-place for any existing 10 Line hardware.
  • KESO / Signature rekey — factory-authorized dealer rekey. We handle in Brevard County.
  • Master key system extension — add doors to existing Sargent master system.
  • 11 Line T-Zone function change — reconfigure 11 Line lockbody from one function to another without replacing the chassis.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 10 Line was discontinued — what does that mean for my existing hardware?

The original Sargent 10 Line was discontinued in 2024 and replaced by the 10X Line. If your building has existing 10 Line locks, they remain serviceable — parts are still available from Sargent and locksmith distributors, and we stock common repair parts on the truck. For new openings or replacement locks, spec the 10X — it's a direct retrofit with identical door prep. A Sargent 10XG05 drops into a door prepped for a 10G05 without any modifications. Function, keying, and dimensional compatibility are preserved.

What is EcoFlex® and is the 92% energy savings real?

EcoFlex is Sargent's low-power electromechanical technology. Conventional electrified cylindrical locks use a solenoid that draws continuous holding current (typically 300-500 mA at 24V DC). EcoFlex uses a motor-driven mechanism with intermittent current — it pulses only when state-changing. Measured in independent testing, the power reduction is 92% on average across 24/7 operation. For a building with 50 electrified doors, this translates to reducing the access control power supply from 25A to 2A — big cost and space savings in the electrical room. The technology is standard on all 10X-EL and 10X-EU variants.

What is the difference between 10X Line and 11 Line?

Both are Grade 1 cylindrical locks but with different design philosophies. The 10X Line uses function-specific lockbodies — you order a 10XG05 for entrance/office, a 10XG37 for classroom, a 10XG04 for storeroom, etc. Each function has its own internal chassis. The 11 Line uses T-Zone construction — one universal lockbody serves all functions. Function differences are driven by internal linkages. For facility managers, 11 Line simplifies parts stocking (one chassis covers all doors) and enables field function changes (convert a 10XG37 classroom to a 10XG04 storeroom without a new lockbody). 10X is the common spec for new construction; 11 Line is common for institutional facilities optimizing maintenance operations.

How does 10X compare to Schlage ND and Best 9K?

All three are Grade 1 cylindrical locks and all three are specified interchangeably. Sargent 10X wins on electrified energy efficiency (EcoFlex 92% savings) and status indicator integration — important for healthcare and sensitive-space specifications. Schlage ND wins on keyway ecosystem depth (Primus XP) and cross-brand cylinder flexibility (10 non-Schlage cylinders fit). Best 9K wins on rekey economics (standard SFIC) and endurance rating (100M cycles). For electrified-heavy access control, spec 10X. For broadest keyway options, ND. For lowest total cost on high-turnover facilities, 9K.

Is Sargent code-compliant for Florida K-12 classroom security?

Yes. The 10XG38 (classroom intruder, F110) meets current Florida school hardware requirements. Key in either lever locks/unlocks the outside — teacher locks classroom from inside during lockdown without opening the door. Inside lever always free under NFPA 101. UL 3-hour fire rating. Florida Building Code FL2998 certified. We've installed 10XG38 (and the predecessor 10G38) across multiple Brevard County K-12 schools.

Are Sargent 8200 and Sargent 10X interchangeable?

No — they're different product categories. Sargent 8200 is a mortise lock — fits a rectangular pocket cut in the door edge, includes an integrated 1" deadbolt, has 54 functions, and is spec'd for entry doors and high-traffic institutional. The 10X Line is a cylindrical lock — fits standard 2-1/8" cross-bore prep, no deadbolt, simpler function set, spec'd for general commercial interior doors. They share the same Sargent keyways (LA, Degree, Signature, KESO) so they master-key together cleanly, but the door preps are completely different. A door prepped for a 10XG05 cannot accept an 8205 without re-mortising.

What access control platforms work with the 10X electrified variants?

Any standard 12V or 24V DC access control: PDK.io, Openpath, Brivo, S2, Genetec, LenelS2, Honeywell Pro-Watch, Kantech, CCure, and proprietary systems. The EcoFlex technology works on standard access control wiring without special drivers — just connect to the relay output and power supply like any other electrified lock. Add RX for egress logging and status indicator for privacy/occupancy. We install, run low-voltage wiring, and hand off to your access control vendor, or handle end-to-end through our PDK.io dealer authorization.
