⚠️ CAUTION — Read Before Changing Your Safe Combination

Always open the safe first and keep the door open while changing your combination. Test the new code at least 3 times with the door open before closing it. If you get locked out, drilling alone starts at $450+ depending on the safe's TL rating — and that doesn't include the repair and lock replacement, which adds another $250–$500 depending on the brand. A non-TL rated safe lockout can easily run $800 or more total for drilling, repair, and a new lock. Don't risk it.
Watch out for spring-loaded bolts. Many safes have spring-loaded locking bolts that automatically extend when the door swings shut. Before you start, open the safe door and put the lock in the locked position to retract the bolts. Look for a bolt release button on the inside edge of the door — it may be on the hinge side or the open side, depending on the model. Push it to lock the bolts in the retracted position so the door won't accidentally lock shut on you while you work.
If your lock is acting up randomly — beeping erratically, not responding consistently, or rejecting known-good codes — have it serviced or replaced immediately. A safe lock that fails completely is far more expensive to deal with than a planned repair. Don't wait until you're locked out of your valuables.

Basic Operation

Enter your 6-digit code (factory default: 1-2-3-4-5-6).
Two beeps confirm a valid code.
Within 4 seconds, turn the handle to retract the bolts and open the door.

❌ Three beeps = invalid code. Check your combination and try again.

Change Your Code

Steps to Change the Combination

ALWAYS perform this with the safe door OPEN and bolts extended (locked position).

Enter 0-0-0-0-0-0 (six zeros). You'll hear 1-2 beeps confirming programming mode.
Enter your existing 6-digit code (factory default: 1-2-3-4-5-6). Two beeps confirm.
Enter your new 6-digit code. One beep confirms.
Re-enter the new code again. One beep confirms successful change.

000000 → [old code] → [new code] → [new code]

✅ Success: Single beep after each step, confirming the new code is saved.

❌ Three beeps = unsuccessful. The existing code is still valid. Wait 30 seconds and start over from step 1.

⚠️ You cannot use 000000 as your personal code — it is reserved for the programming function.

Test Your New Code

CRITICAL: Test Before Closing the Door

With the door open and bolts extended, enter your new code.
Turn the handle — bolts should retract.
Extend the bolts again (turn handle to locked position).
Repeat this test 3 times before closing the door.

⚠️ NEVER close the safe door until you have successfully tested the new code at least 3 times.

SafeLogic Manager/User Models

Some SafeLogic models have both a Manager Code and a User Code — two independent 6-digit combinations that can both open the safe. The Manager can change the User Code, but the User cannot change the Manager Code.

Change Manager Code

Enter 0-0-0-0-0-0.
Enter the existing Manager Code.
Enter the new Manager Code.
Re-enter the new Manager Code.

Change User Code (by Manager)

Enter the Manager Code and hold the last digit until you hear a double beep and the LED stays on.
Press 1 to enter the User Code change function.
Enter the new User Code.
Re-enter to confirm.

Disable/Enable User Code (by Manager)

Enter the Manager Code and hold the last digit until double beep.
Press 2 to disable the User Code (code is saved but temporarily inactive).
Press 3 to re-enable the User Code.

Low Battery Warning

When batteries are low, the keypad LED will flash yellow during operation, and you may hear multiple warning beeps. Replace the 9V battery immediately. The battery compartment is located on the exterior keypad — your codes are stored in non-volatile memory and will NOT be lost during battery replacement (codes survive up to 3 years without power).

Wrong Try Lockout

After 4 consecutive incorrect codes, the lock enters a 5-minute lockout. The LED flashes at 10-second intervals. Do not press any buttons during this time. After 5 minutes, the keypad will accept entries again.

Troubleshooting

Two beeps but door won't open: Turn the handle more quickly — you only have 4-6 seconds after the beeps to open. If it still doesn't work, replace the battery.
Five beeps after entering code: Contact your safe manufacturer for a combination recovery request.
Yellow LED light: Low battery warning — replace the 9V battery immediately.
No response from keypad: Battery is completely dead. Hold a fresh 9V battery against the emergency power contacts on the exterior of the keypad to temporarily power it.
Three beeps during code change: Programming failed. The old code is still active. Wait 30 seconds and try again from step 1, making sure to press buttons firmly.
